‘All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of chickens (1 Corinthians 15:39)’.
/gorizamarkaz/ welcomes you to a feast of voices, shrieks, lights, doodles, bedtime puppets, 7+ nudity, garage dancing and a small surprise. Meridian Rhubarb is the duo’s ongoing site-specific experiment with words, sounds, videos, bodies and history. For each performance site they create a new chapter and perform it alongside the ones made for previous sites. The themes of death, violence, hauntology, autobiography and identity are recurring in all the chapters.
Previous chapters were On Expiry (London), On Demolition (Tehran), On Confessions (Ipswich). Now a crying little boy runs into the church and grabs his mother’s hand as she blissfully shouts ‘hallelujah’. Join the new chapter at Home For Waifs And Strays (HFWAS) in Birmingham.

/gorizazmarkaz/ is Tara Fatehi Irani and Pouya Ehsaei. Tara is a performance maker with a background in theatre and dance. Pouya is a sound artist working across performance, sound and experimental music. Their works are usually based on collected and found material, from sound recordings to images, videos and objects. They put together their mixed backgrounds in theatre, music composition, dance, writing, singing, acting, storytelling and sound design to make a playful and experimental performance that belongs to none of these areas alone.
Their ideas come from their obsessions with everyday-life events and objects, their fascination with memory, archive, history, socio-political experiences and the interpretation of all these by media. From SPILL Festival to deserted buildings in Tehran they have presented works at several well-known and undisclosed venues.
